Victorian Rim Lock Set
Victorian Rim Lock Set
Description: Beautiful quality Victorian rim lock set. The set comprises of door knobs, finger plates and a single escutcheon (the other side of the door would have a rim lock for the key). Dating from the 19th Century the handles have their original square bar spindle and single cast brass back plate suitable for rim lock fitting. (Where the side without back plate sits flush to the door rim lock and the side with back plate sits flush to the door). All the brass metalwork has a highly decorative chased surface pattern, carefully completed by hand. The makers name Elsley appears on the reverse side of the escutcheon and finger plate and refers to the maker Thomas Elsley & Co, an art metal worker, who had a business in central London. They were patent lock makers and wholesale ironmongers and the firm produced much of C. F. A. Voysey’s metalwork at its foundry.
Condition: Very good. These handles have been cleaned & hand polished.
